Washington State Pilot Escort Vehicle Operator Certification Course - In-person
Description
Evergreen Safety Council’s nationally-recognized Pilot Escort Vehicle Operator (PEVO) certification is the most current, comprehensive, and cutting-edge PEVO program in the country. PEVO certification is required for operation in Washington, and many states have similar requirements.

NOTE: This is an IN-PERSON class. Please make sure you have made arrangements to physically attend this classroom training.
What you'll learn
- This 8-hour certification class draws on the latest industry standards and best practices established at the state and federal levels. Through lectures, activities, quizzes, and discussion, students will be trained on:
- Legal requirements of PEVOs and their vehicles
- How to read and understand Washington State code pertaining to PEVOs
- How to understand permits and plan for an oversize load move
- How to pilot along a designated route
- Hazards and emergency procedures
Requirements
You will need a valid Driver License from a U.S. state or Canadian province in order to earn your certification.
Schedule
Please arrive at least 15 minutes prior to class so that you can get checked in. Bring your Driver License for verification by the instructor. The class includes two 15 minute breaks and one 30 minute lunch break. After the instructor-led portion of the class, you will take the Washington State Pilot Escort Vehicle Operator certification exam. You will have 2 hours to complete the exam.
Student materials
At the beginning of class, you will be provided with the student materials, which are yours to keep.
Certification
Certification will be issued to students who attend the full 8-hour training course, present a valid Driver License from a U.S. state or Canadian province, and pass the open-book exam with a score of 80% or higher. Certifications are valid for 3 years.
A digital copy of your certification will be emailed to you, and the official paper certification will be mailed to the address you provide during registration 3-5 business days after the conclusion of your class. Please note that the digital copy of the certification is not valid for operation in most jurisdictions.
Retests
If you do not pass the exam, you may contact our customer service team to schedule a one-time retest, free of charge. Retests must be completed within 30 days of your original class date.
