PEVO Instructor | Washington State Certification

Candidates who successfully complete our Washington State Pilot Escort Vehicle Operator (PEVO) Instructor training course receive a Washington State PEVO instructor certification that is valid for 3 years.

Description

Evergreen Safety Council offers by invitation only. In order to be eligible to attend the training course and receive your instructor certification, you must complete the steps outlined below.

STEP 1: Click here to complete our PEVO Instructor Application and submit the required documentation.  Required documentation includes the following:

  • Statement of Interest. Please write 200-700 words (1-3 paragraphs) about why you want to become an Evergreen Safety Council-certified Washington State PEVO instructor. This letter should also include any presentation experience and/or commercial experience you may have. Be as specific as possible. Current WA PEVO Operator certification card
  • Valid business license. You may disregard if your company is already an Authorized Training Provider (ATP).
  • Proof of commercial liability insurance. You may disregard if your company is already an ATP.
  • Driver license or government-issued photo.
  • Verification of professional experience. Please submit 2 reference letters verifying professional teaching experience and 1 letter of recommendation verifying commercial driving experience.

If you do not have all the required documentation on hand, you may still submit the application and send the outstanding documents to pevo@esc.org when you have collected them.

Please note: all required documentation must be submitted to the Council within 60 days of completing the Instructor certification course.  Applications that remain incomplete after 60 days will be voided, meaning you must start the process over again, including re-taking the instructor course, paying the associated fees, and submitting the required documents.

STEP 2: If your application is approved, you will receive a confirmation email with additional information and instructions for your class.

STEP 4: Authorized Training Provider (ATP) Agreement. All Instructors must be employed by or be a subcontractor of an ATP. Approved applicants must provide the contact information of the person at your company/organization who is authorized to review and sign the ATP agreement to pevo@esc.org (this is usually your direct supervisor or manager). The ATP agreement will be sent digitally via DocuSign.  The ATP agreement must be completed prior to attending the instructor course.  If your company is already an ATP, you may disregard this step.

STEP 5: Pay the $700 instructor onboarding and initial training fee. Once the ATP agreement is completed, we will send you a link to register and pay for the course.

STEP 6: Complete Evergreen Safety Council’s self-directed online instructor training modules prior to attending the in-person certification course.

STEP 7: Attend and successfully complete the 3-day Instructor class. You must pass the Instructor Certification exam with a score of 90% or better.

STEP 8: Sign the Instructor Agreement. Upon successful completion of the Instructor class, you and the authorized representative from your company will both receive a copy of the Instructor Agreement to review and sign. The Instructor Agreement will be sent digitally via DocuSign.

STEP 9: CERTIFIED! Once you have completed the Instructor Agreement, we will issue your Washington State PEVO Instructor Certification card that is valid for 3 years. Congrats!
