Wind Industry Transportation Professional Advances Certification Course - In-person

Description

WITPAC is a specialized course for Pilot/Escort Vehicle Operators (P/EVOs), load drivers, and steerpersons who work transporting wind turbine components. WITPAC training prepares you to operate using the industry's universal standards and procedures in order to improve team functionality and safety.

What you’ll learn

WITPAC training covers the following topics:

  • Best practices for teamwork and communication
  • How to properly use route surveys
  • Best practices for pre- and post-trip meetings
  • Front, high pole, and rear P/EVO duties
  • Steerperson duties

Course format

WITPAC training consists of two parts:

  • Part 1: Online modules and prep exam
  • When you register for the course, you will also be automatically registered for the online modules and prep exam. You must complete these prior to your in-person class session. Upon passing the prep exam, you will be awarded a "Class Pass." You must have a valid Class Pass to attend the certification class.
  • Part 2: Live certification class
  • On the date you are registered to attend the class, you will need to bring your required documentation (see below), and a copy of your Class Pass. You will take the certification exam at the end of your class.

Requirements

You will need the following:

  • P/EVO certification from Arizona, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Minnesota, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Utah, Virginia, or Washington, along with a valid Driver License from any U.S. state or Canadian province
  • -OR-
  • A CDL from any U.S. state or Canadian province
  • Your Class Pass (see above)
  • Your student packet

If you do not hold a P/EVO certification or CDL, you may still attend the course, but you will be issued a Proof of Completion rather than a certification.

Certification

Certification will be issued to students who:

  • Have successfully completed the online modules and earned a Class Pass
  • Attend the full certification class
  • Hold a valid P/EVO certification from one of the states named above, or a valid CDL from any U.S. state or Canadian province
  • Pass the certification exam with a 90% or better

WITPAC certifications are valid for 3 years.

Those who do not hold an accepted P/EVO certification or CDL, but who pass the course, will be issued a Proof of Completion. Please note that a Proof of Completion is not valid for operation as a load driver, P/EVO, or steerperson in the wind transportation industry. Your Proof of Completion may be upgraded to a full WITPAC certification if you submit a valid P/EVO certification or CDL within 180 days of passing the WITPAC exam.

WITPAC certifications are digital-only. You will receive your digital certification or Proof of Completion via email 3-5 business days after passing the WITPAC exam. You may print it and/or save a digital copy for your records.

Retests

If you do not pass the exam, you may contact our customer service team to schedule a one-time retest, free of charge.  Retests must be completed within 30 days of your original class date.
